• Volunteering at Portage Health

A tradition since 1992, Portage Health has been providing service opportunities in healthcare to people interested in contributing to our caring and patient-focused environment. Whether you are a teenager, college student or an adult member of the community, we have flexible programs that will serve to instruct, inspire, enrich and enliven.

Each year volunteers contribute more than 115,000 hours of service involving a variety of skills, challenges and levels of participation.

    Benefits

At Portage Health, we appreciate the time you spend lending a helping hand. Whether you are answering the telephone, delivering flowers or providing hospice care, reaching out to someone in need is, indeed, its own reward. But to further express our gratitude for everything you do, we provide our volunteers with these additional benefits:

    • Fitness Center discounts
    • Award pins for extended service

No matter what your skills and interests, you can provide a helping hand for our patients. Our volunteers serve all sorts of functions throughout our facilities.

The Portage Hospital Auxiliary’s tradition of service spans more than 50 years.

The Auxiliary, which welcomes new members, meets on the first Thursday of each month from September through May.

  • Spiritual Services

    The Chapel

A small meditation chapel is located on the main level next to the gift shop. It is open at all times for private prayer and meditation for patients, their families, visitors and hospital staff.

    Portage Health Chaplains

Chaplains are available from several local denominational backgrounds who work cooperatively in providing pastoral care to patients and families.

A Portage Health chaplain visits patients in the hospital each day and is on call for emergencies any time of the day or night. You can request a visit by letting your nurse know.
