Support Groups

Support groups are an excellent complement to medical care. They provide education and foster emotions that positively influence the fight against illness or adversity.

Bereavement Support Group

Grieving for a loved one is a process. Recognizing your need to talk is one of the steps. Ask for support when you want it, and accept help when it’s offered. Our bereavement support group offers a safe and welcoming environment for you to share wherever you are in the process of grieving.

Schedule

The bereavement support group meets the first Wednesday of every month at the UP Health System - Portage Home Care conference room.

Caregiver Support Group

When someone you love is ill, it’s normal to want to do as much as you can to help. But you can’t take good care of someone else if you don’t take care of yourself, too. Our caregiver support group offers a welcoming environment for you to share your experience with others and learn from others as well.

Women's Cancer Support Group

This group is for any women in the four-county area living with a cancer, newly diagnosed, in treatment or a long-term survivor. Attendees of support groups will receive many benefits from interacting with others who have been through, or are going through the same thing. The support group will provide a place to laugh a little, and share or learn about resources and tips.

Meetings will be held on the last Wednesday of every month.  Contact the people listed below for the location and time.
