With all of the changes swirling around healthcare, you need to know one thing: Portage Health is Here For You. Nothing is changing that.
Since 1896 we have been the quality leader in Copper Country healthcare. Many respected, independent organizations nationwide have backed up our quality claims. This includes recognitions from The Joint Commission, Blue Cross Blue Shield and the American College of Surgeons to name a few.
We are proud of those recognitions. We are even more proud of the feedback we consistently receive from our patients. The numbers show us well above national, state and regional averages. These industry standard rankings, called HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems), are something we’re immensely proud of.
While we’re proud of these numbers, our work is never done. We’re always looking for ways to improve the quality healthcare we provide. That includes hiring only board-certified physicians. It includes hiring specialists who have completed advanced fellowship training. It also includes the hiring of Baptist Leadership Group to help our staff continue to improve our patient experience.
In 2013, in a move to secure a stronger future, Portage Health began searching for a partner. That led the Portage Health Board of Directors to sign a definitive agreement to form a joint venture with LifePoint Hospitals®. The agreement includes $60 million in capital investments over the next 10 years to expand and enhance healthcare services in the Copper Country. Through these investments and shared governance, we seek to keep pace with your healthcare expectations.
Thank you for making your decision to receive your healthcare at Portage Health. We know it’s a serious decision, and we know that our focus on quality is vital to you and your family’s well being. That’s why we are going to continue doing the right things to provide the highest quality healthcare possible, right here in the Keweenaw.
Below are some comments that our patients have shared illustrating how Portage Health staff has been "here for them." Share your story through the above sweepstakes.
