PortagePointe To Hold Community Art Event

March 1, 2016

HANCOCK, Mich. – The elders at PortagePointe are holding a community event to showcase their Creative Expressions on Thursday, March 3 from 2:30 – 4 p.m.

The elders participate in numerous diverse artistic activities with the most popular focusing on 21 different poetry types in a group atmosphere. The poetry programs are modeled after research focused on the benefits of poetry writing in the senior population. The call and response writing is an interactive experience that supplies brain activity and brain stimulation.

The community event is open to the public and will display artistic projects of writing and art that the elders have created.

Sixty Copper Country elders call PortagePointe home. The elders and staff work together to create an environment of daily living. It consists of five different houses each having a dining room, kitchen and living area. PortagePointe also has a cat, fish, garden, and beautiful stone fireplaces for their residents to enjoy.

The community event will have door prizes and refreshments.
