Having a comprehensive orthopaedic program in the Western Upper Peninsula has more benefits than providing great services close to home.
A comprehensive orthopaedic program involves physicians and their support staff: nurses, receptionsists and certified athletic trainers. Our program directly employs nine people.
The revenue generated from the orthopaedic program allows Portage Health to employ 70 additional full-time, benefit-elegible positions across our system. The impact that 70 full-time jobs has on our local economy is significant. That means 70 more people in our community being able to support their families. It means 70 more paychecks being spent in local businesses. That's a lot of money that stays in our community, fueling our economy.
With the addition of Dr. Jennifer Bow and Dr. Christopher Peer to Portage Health’s orthopaedic team in the summer of 2011, we’ve taken another step forward in the care we can provide. Portage Health now offers world-class care, including 24/7 support and a trifecta of surgeons with thousands upon thousands of successful surgery’s under their belt.
It’s a set of offerings some might expect to have to drive two, three or even six hours away to get. That’s no longer the reality as the care you need is right here at Portage Health. Not all communities our size have such offerings. It’s an asset we hope you’ll take advantage of when you’re in need so we can continue to offer it for generations to come.
Our experts are just that, experts. They’re here for you, they’re here to better our community. Call 483-1040, and make an appointment today.
